Make a pair of well fitting casual pants using our basic pants pattern. Learn how to take correct body measurements, and alter a commercial pattern to fit comfortably. Hone your sewing skills by adding construction details like fly front zipper or button closure, patch pockets, top stitching and optional cuffed hemline.
Elastic, drawstring, or zipper waist
Slatted or cargo pockets
Full or capri length
Wide or narrow leg fitting

Skills learned:

Reading a size chart & choose the proper size
Cutting woven fabric on grain, understanding pattern markings
Finishing seams- stitching in the ditch, topstitching, and understitching.
Pockets
Creating channels for elastic or drawstring waistband
Inserting a zipper
Hemming

Fabrics & Equipment:
We have a curated selection of donated fabrics, perfect for students eager to explore their creativity. While our designs and fabric types are limited, we prioritize eco-friendly sourcing by utilizing donated materials, dead stock, and project scraps. (We gladly accept donations to cover the cost of preparing these fabrics for class use)
Students wishing to bring their own fabrics are welcome to do so.
Machines, threads, tools provided.
For any student directed special project, we will provide a supply list for anything not on hand.
