Make a pair of well fitting casual pants using our basic pants pattern. Learn how to take correct body measurements, and alter a commercial pattern to fit comfortably. Hone your sewing skills by adding construction details like fly front zipper or button closure, patch pockets, top stitching and optional cuffed hemline.
- Elastic, drawstring, or zipper waist
- Slatted or cargo pockets
- Full or capri length
- Wide or narrow leg fitting
Skills learned:
- Reading a size chart & choose the proper size
- Cutting woven fabric on grain, understanding pattern markings
- Finishing seams- stitching in the ditch, topstitching, and understitching.
- Pockets
- Creating channels for elastic or drawstring waistband
- Inserting a zipper
- Hemming

Fabrics & Equipment:
- We have a curated selection of donated fabrics, perfect for students eager to explore their creativity. While our designs and fabric types are limited, we prioritize eco-friendly sourcing by utilizing donated materials, dead stock, and project scraps. (We gladly accept donations to cover the cost of preparing these fabrics for class use)
- Students wishing to bring their own fabrics are welcome to do so.
- Machines, threads, tools provided.
- For any student directed special project, we will provide a supply list for anything not on hand.
