Jan Kearns: Executive Director
Redding Fashion Alliance was founded in 2015 by Jan Kearns, Robin Fator and Rachel Hatch. We started by answering the question: “What if Redding had a bustling fashion industry?” What started as an idea is now a fully functional non-profit organization lead by co-executive directors Robin Fator and Jan Kearns. Robin is a fashion designer and owner of the handmade brand Dark Pony Designs. Jan is a sewist and owner of Gold Coast Goods, a neckwear and accessories brand. We believe that we can change improve the quality of life in our community by fostering the creative economy and increasing living wage jobs in design and manufacturing of high quality small batch manufacturing of apparel, accessories and textile based products.
The Redding Fashion Alliance is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is located in the heart of downtown Redding’s newly designated Cultural District. We offer retail space for local makers and designers, makerspace for sewing and fashion design, a classroom space and equipment, and a conference room available to the community for meetings and workshops.
Our programs include low cost access to maker space, beginning through advanced sewing and design instruction, business workshops, networking events, local shopping features, and collaborative programs with other local nonprofits that serve populations with a compromised socioeconomic status, and workforce development for positions within local manufacturing.
